Spring/Summer 2026 Theme: Sol
Yanaguana Submissions General Guidelines
We encourage submissions in poetry, visual art work, reviews, interviews, and essay/memoir/creative nonfiction. You may submit in more than one category, but please use the appropriate forms. We make room as we are able for fiction; please email us to see if your fiction piece might find a place here.
Yanaguana is published in electronic format twice a year: Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer. Work we accept for Yanaguana is typically published in the next available issue. Please be aware of the submission deadlines for each issue.
If we accept your work we will request electronic rights. Rights return to the author after publication.
Please also let us know if you are submitting your work elsewhere.
Sol
Interpret "Sol" how you wish.
We are always curious to view unpublished, highly skilled, visual art that fits the issue's theme. The kind of art we look for includes, but is not limited to, fine art, photography, illustration, graphic art, or mixed media. Please submit up to 3 images of your visual artwork. Images must be 300 dpi or higher definition, for consideration.
You must disclose the use of Artificial Intelligence in your work and in which ways AI may have contributed to your work, if any.
Submission Deadlines
We publish a Spring/Summer and a Fall/Winter issue. Deadlines for submission are January 15 for Spring/Summer and July 15 for Fall/Winter. Submissions outside these dates will be considered for a subsequent issue. We respond to all submissions regarding our decision to accept.
Rights
We will notify you if your submission is accepted. If we publish your work we ask that you give us first North American Serial Rights and electronic media rights to your work, and we ask that Yanaguana be acknowledged if the work is subsequently published in book format or reprinted in another venue. All rights revert back to author after publication.
Artists whose work is accepted will be celebrated through Yanaguana's social media, but there will be no further remuneration, unless negotiated separately. We are delighted and honored if you also tag Yanaguana in your social media posts upon publication.
***Yanaguana is aware of our speech acts and will not consider work that makes use of hate speech in unwise ways such as racism, Xenophobia, sexism, homophobia, Transphobia, ableism, or ageism. At our own discretion we will not publish gratuitous use of obscenities, sex, or violence. We are committed to inclusivity, honoring diverse voices and perspectives --Punto!
Sol
For the year 2026 spring equinox issue, give your own interpretation of "Sol."
Send up to three poems, as inspired or interpreted by the theme of the issue, in a single Word or PDF document.
We do our best to honor creative formats and fonts; always send instructions with your work if you wish us to retain special formatting, and for such formatting it is a good idea to include a pdf or image (if you are able to make one!) so we can easily understand your intentions.
We recognize that AI permeates our culture. We prefer to publish authentic works and ask that you please disclose any use of Artificial Intelligence in your work and in which ways AI may have contributed to your work. If your work is found to be AI assisted and not disclosed, your work will not be published.
